Just Your Favourite DJ Saviour

This may just be the greatest thing I have ever seen. An American High School percussion group have learnt to play two DJ Shadow tracks from 'Endtroducing' with real instruments. I can't say much more except huge props to the group leader for deconstructing all of Shad's beats and loops and somehow arranging it for young, amateur drummers and xylophonists. This in itself is a musical feat. Check out the tape and be amazed.

unbelievable, especially when they get to the pre-squarepusher style chop-ups! Really amazing.

What does this say culturally though? Backpacker hiphop in the school curriculum? Seems surreal enough to be significant

Never mind backpacker hh at school, what does it mean that the ultimate po-mo musical deconstructionist/collage artist (Shadow) has his most characteristic quality (the collage/cut-up) replicated by real, live instruments!

Shadow draws in music from a million disparate locations, then this high school group unite the beats and rhythms in the same place for the first time. Makes ya think so much your head hurts.
